Towing Off The Grid
Six of my hang gliding students and I recently bailed from Sydney's rat race and headed to the Central Tablelands to fly and camp at Ian Harris' airstrip and solar powered facilty.

I rolled up my sleeves, fired up our Cloudstreet Winch, and went hard logging 42 tows in 26 hours. It was truely a milestone for these pilots in their young flying career, as we had first-time solo flights, spot-landings, and thermalling sessions. At sunset we BBQ'd and soaked up the heat from the campfire.
Low towing is an awesome tool for our students to gain confidence, practicing their take-offs and landings. It's a great winter venue because with a big paddock, we can tow & fly in any wind direction, just as long as it's not too strong. The video below captures a bit of the freedom that my students tapped into, out there Off The Grid.
