The World Champs, Task 7
We finally pulled off another task for the 2009 Hang Gliding World Championships.
The day was PUMPING, as it delivered incredibly dynamic lift and sink, all before the clouds OVERdeveloped into a major storm.
This comp has offered some amazing flying...just not enough days of them!
The fast ones finished the 110 km task, averaging just over 50 km/hr. The slower pilots got stuck landing in 20 knot gust fronts after the task was eventually stopped.
Antoine Boisselier, Gerolf Heinrichs, and then myself were the first three into goal.
Australian teammate, Jonny Durand stole the day coming in 6 minutes later, and had started on the second start-clock, 15 minutes later.
One more day tomorrow (Friday). Then a big party. The awards ceremony will be on Saturday midday.
