Three altimeters and a barograph, the IQ Alto delivers the basics at a very affordable price. Includes a soft pouch bag and Instruction Manual. The IQ ALto takes 2 Alkaline Batteries, or 2 rechargeable NiCd or NiMh accumulatorAA1, which will provide up to 200 hours of powered-UP time.

If you are on a budget, you can't beat this price for a NEW variometer? that comes with a two year warranty. While, it doesn't have all of the bells and whistles, it will show you the main things like altitude, climb rate, and give you an audio beep when you are climbing.
Speaking of budget, you could go slightly cheaper and get a wrist altimeter, BUT the ALTO's display is MUCH easier to see (current climb rate, average climb rate, & altitude) and has a louder speaker.
